Conscientia

Conscientia es una invitación a detener el tiempo, es un umbral, es el espacio donde el ruido del mundo se disuelve en el silencio de la mirada. Donde la contemplación de la naturaleza se convierte en un espejo que nos devuelve nuestra propia imagen: la consciencia de estar vivos en este mundo natural.

Esta serie artística nace de la premisa de que la contemplación profunda de la naturaleza no es un acto pasivo, sino un puente directo hacia nuestra propia esencia humana. Al observar el entorno natural, el espectador deja de ser un extraño para reconocerse como parte integral del cosmos.

El corazón de la obra es el monolito, una columna de silencio que se alza para unir el latido de la tierra con el infinito de la consciencia. Su verticalidad simboliza el vínculo entre la tierra y el pensamiento, un recordatorio de nuestra capacidad de elevar la consciencia a partir de lo tangible. Como un centinela de tierra, el monolito nos invita a detener el paso del tiempo y reconocer que somos, ante todo, una extensión del paisaje que habitamos.

La obra se sostiene a través de la cangahua ecuatoriana, un material que es, en esencia, tiempo petrificado. Esta tierra compacta es casi una piedra volcánica, no es solo el rastro de antiguas erupciones; es la carne misma de los Andes. Una amalgama de ceniza y memoria que ha sostenido civilizaciones antes de que existiera la civilización moderna.

Esculpir la cangahua es desenterrar una voz antigua. En cada poro de esta roca ancestral habita un eco de nuestra humanidad; al tocarla, no solo tocamos la tierra, sino que despertamos esa consciencia profunda que nos recuerda que venimos del barro y que, en el silencio de la piedra, todavía podemos encontrarnos.

Conscientia is an invitation to suspend time. It is a threshold, a space where the world’s noise dissolves into the silence of the gaze. Where the contemplation of nature becomes a mirror reflecting our own image: the consciousness of being alive within this natural world.

This artistic series is born from the premise that the profound contemplation of nature is not a passive act, but a direct bridge to our own human essence. By observing the natural environment, the spectator ceases to be an outsider and begins to recognize themselves as an integral part of the cosmos.

At the heart of the work lies the monolith: a column of silence that rises to unite the heartbeat of the earth with the infinity of consciousness. Its verticality symbolizes the bond between land and thought, a reminder of our capacity to elevate our awareness from the tangible. Like a sentinel of earth, the monolith invites us to halt the passage of time and recognize that we are, above all, an extension of the landscape we inhabit.

The work is anchored by Ecuadorian Cangahua, a material that is, in essence, petrified time. This compacted earth, akin to volcanic stone, is more than just a trace of ancient eruptions; it is the very flesh of the Andes. It is an amalgam of ash and memory that has sustained civilizations long before the modern world existed.

To sculpt Cangahua is to unearth an ancient voice. Within every pore of this ancestral rock dwells an echo of our humanity. In touching it, we do not only touch the earth, we awaken that deep consciousness which reminds us that we come from the clay and that, within the silence of the stone, we can still find ourselves.
